A Guillemot Guide to Very Small Press Publishing

£12.00

Setting up a press is great fun. Working with writers and artists, reviewers and producers, printers and binders, finding new voices, figuring out books – we love it! We’ve learned a good deal since we started Guillemot and this Guide to Very Small Press Publishing is intended to share both our enthusiasm for what we do and what we’ve learned along the way, with sections on typography, sustainability, printing techniques and binding, launches, social media, websites, marketing, press releases and the submissions process, working with illustrators and lots, lots more.

Practical and approachable, with stories from our own practice, we hope this first Guillemot Guide will encourage the successful and smooth formation of lots of other little presses.

This Guillemot Guide has been written by Guillemot Press co-editor Luke Thompson. When Luke is not making books he is usually writing them or teaching other people about how to make or write them. Recent titles include Treasures of Cornwall (Macmillan, 2023) and the poetry collection Singing About Melon (Shearsman, 2020). Luke is a lecturer at Falmouth University as well as a freelance editor and book producer.
