Lentic refers to living near still or slow-moving water. In the first poem of this new pamphlet from Naush Sabah the slow-moving water is Birmingham’s River Cole and in the title poem it is Mangla Lake. Spoken through multiple voices - a mother, a new wife, a neighbour, a father - this pamphlet articulates varieties of unease: cultural, social, personal and spatial.

Naush Sabah is a writer, editor, and educator based in the West Midlands. Her debut pamphlet, Litanies, was published by Guillemot in 2021 and shortlisted for the Michael Marks Poetry Award. She is co-founder and editor of Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal and a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Birmingham City University.
