CAROUSEL

Rebecca Goss and Chris Routledge have been collaborating on Carousel for eight years. This period of gestation has resulted in a collection of poems and photographs that explore intimacy as the relationship between the viewer and the viewed. The poet is able to cross boundaries and intrude upon an intimacy that is not hers, yet still reflect it. She regards the photographer looking at the world, but also finds herself ‘viewed' when the poem becomes a visual artefact in its own right.

Rebecca Goss has published two collections, The Anatomy of Structures (Flambard Press, 2010) and the Forward Prize short-listed Her Birth (Carcanet, 2013). In 2019, her third collection, Girl, will be published, also by Carcanet.

Chris Routledge is a writer and photographer whose books include Cains: The Story of Liverpool in a Pint (Liverpool University Press, 2008) and two edited collections, Mystery in Children’s Literature (Palgrave, 2001) and Key Ideas in Linguistics and the Philosophy of Language (Edinburgh University Press, 2009).

Carousel has been printed on Naturalis and Fedrigoni papers, section sewn and released in a limited edition of 200.
